Want to make your own cheddar cheese sauce?
We have a recipe for you if you want to make your own cheddar cheese sauce. You will need the following:
- A pinch of freshly ground black pepper and salt
- One and a half ounces of shredded sharp cheddar cheese (extra mature works well!)
- Four teaspoons of all-purpose flour
- One cup of milk (use any type of milk you want, from low fat to full fat)
Start off by combining flour and a quarter of the milk into the saucepan. Whisk it well so that everything combines together perfectly. Add in the salt and the rest of the milk. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Make sure you stir it continually.
Reduce the heat to low. Simmer for two minutes or until you have noticed that the sauce has thickened a bit. Keep stirring all of the time.
Remove the mixture from the heat. Add in the pepper and cheese, stirring until the cheese has fully melted. Don’t add the cheese while the mixture is over the heat, as it can curdle.
